A review of the Family Violence Act 2004 has been undertaken in accordance with Section 43 of the Act.
“A review into the provisions of this Act including an investigation of the effectiveness of its mechanisms will be conducted by the Minister and tabled in Parliament within 3 years of the commencement of the Act.
The review consultants, Urbis, have completed the report to the Attorney-General, and this was tabled in Parliament on 13 March 2008.
This Review is the first stage of a broader Review of the Safe at Home program. It is intended that the outcomes of Stage 1 of the Review will inform both Stage 2 and future developments of the Safe at Home program including the Family Violence Act 2004.
